For many years, I have been intrigued by the idea that spirits and demons might live among us. Caution: Monsters Inside is the culmination of years of studying and appreciating Japanese yōkai, alongside a desire to adapt the sensibilities of those tales into new beings rooted in American folklore and the contemporary issues that haunt us today.
Using paper and pulp as my primary media, I have created pulp paper casts and contour drawings of imagined yōkai figures, accompanied by an edition of accordion books letterpress printed from photopolymer plates made from my original drawings and poems.
